Question
I am a dietitian
working in allergy and was hoping you could confirm whether the “AWT” stock
cubes and gravy powder are suitable for a patient suffering from soya and wheat
allergy. Could you please confirm?
Answer
I can confirm the Beef Gravy Powder,
Vegetable Stock Cubes and Chicken Stock
Cubes are all free from Soya and Wheat,
however the Chicken Gravy Powder, although
Gluten Free and suitable for Coeliacs, contains
dextrose which is an ingredient derived
from wheat. Dextrose is exempt from the
gluten labelling / allergen, and it is actually
gluten that is the allergen rather than
wheat, so it would be dependent upon whether
your patients are working to a gluten free
diet, or a wheat free diet?
Question
Could you
tell me please if the AWT Gluten Free Gravy Mix or Chicken or Beef Stock cubes
contain any MSG, as quite often the terms 'Natural Flavouring' or 'Yeast
Extract' can be hidden sources of MSG.
Answer
Thank you for your enquiry. Yeast extract can indeed be a hidden
source of MSG but I can confirm that the stock cubes are yeast free and the
supplier has confirmed that there is no hidden source of MSG in the gravy mixes
either. |
